Kushtia, 19 September, Abnews: A Kushtia court on Wednesday placed ‘Ganj-e-raj Paribahan’ bus driver Mahit Mia on a two-day remand in a case filed over the death of a baby girl in a road accident in the district town on August 28.
Senior Judicial Magistrate MM Morshed passed the order when Sub-inspector Sumon Quaderi of Kushtia Model Police Station, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court with a five-day remand prayer, reports the UNB.
On September 12, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mahit Mia alias Khokon from Bangeswari area in Faridpur sadar upazila after a court here cancelled his bail order in the case.
On August 28, Akifa (1), sustained injuries after she fell from her mother’s lap when a bus of 'Ganj-e-raj Paribahan' hit the mother in Kushtia district town. The minor later passed away at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on August 30.
The victim's father filed a case against bus driver Khokon, its owner Joynul and supervisor Yunus with Kushita Model Police Station on the same day.
The video footage of the incident went viral on social networking site Facebook, sparking uproar across the country.
