Dhaka, 3 July, Abnews: Litterateur and a language movement heroine Dr Halima Khatun has passed away on Saturday at the age of 86.
The language movemnet veteran was admitted to the United Hospital in the capital as she was suffering from kidney and heart diseases.
The attending doctors pronounced her clinically dead around 2:30pm on Tuesday (today).
Conveying sympathy to her bereaved family members, Asaduzzaman Noor said ‘Halima was one of the organizers who participated actively in the movement. Specially, she played a vital role in organising and inspiring the women to participate in the movement.’
‘She will be remembered forever all the time for this participation in the movement and contribution to the Bengali literature,’ the cultural affairs minister added.
She was born on August 25, 1933, in Bagherhat. She was the youngest child of Maulovi Abdur Rahman, who completed his graduation from Kolkata Alia Madrasa.
