Drug peddler killed in Thakurgaon ‘gunfight’
Dhaka, 8 June, Abnews: A drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in the district’s  Ranisankail upazila early Friday.
 
The deceased was identified as Shamim Hossain 42, son of late Abdus Sattar of Nekmorod village in the upazila.
 
Acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area in the early hours on Friday, said Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Ranishankoil Police Station.
 
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, they fired gunshots on police forcing them to fire back in self-defence, leaving Shamim dead on the spot
He was wanted in several cases, including that of drugs.
 
Two policemen were also injured in the incident, the OC said.  300 pieces of Yaba was recovered from the spot.
