Dhaka, 27 Feb, Abnews: The High Court (HC) has stayed decision of freezing all bank accounts of mobile operator Robi Axiata Ltd, slapped by National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The bench of Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Tuesday.
Barrister Tanjibul Islam moved for Robi while Deputy Attorney General S M Moniruzzaman represented the state in the court.
Later, Deputy Attorney General Moniruzzaman said, "An appeal petition will be filed with the Appellate Division against the stay order of HC."
On Monday, the NBR claimed that Robi evaded about Tk 187.29 million in VAT and supplementary duty.
Following this, the NBR directed all banks to freeze the accounts of Robi-Axiata for three working days under section 26 (4) of the VAT Act 1991, the release read.
The national revenue body said legal steps will be taken against the company in this regard.
