NBR freezes Robi-Axiata's bank account
Dhaka, 26 Feb, Abnews: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Monday froze the bank account of mobile operator Robi-Axiata for three working days as it alleges that the mobile operator company has evaded value added tax (VAT) and supplementary duties.
 
In a letter sent to the top officials of banks on Monday, the NBR claimed that Robi evaded about Tk 187.29 million in VAT and supplementary duty.
 
Following this, the NBR directed all banks to freeze the accounts of Robi-Axiata for three working days under section 26 (4) of the VAT Act 1991, the release read.
 
The national revenue body said legal steps will be taken against the company in this regard.
