Dhaka, 29 Jan, Abnews: Students from leftist political parties in Dhaka University have sealed off the main entrance of the Arts Building at Dhaka University to protest the ‘attacks’ by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists.
Around 70-80 students gathered in front of the building around 8:00am and expressed solidarity with the alliance of left-leaning student organizations which called the strike under the banner of “Students against repression”, reports our Dhaka University correspondent.
On January 23, a group of students and some activists of left-leaning student organisations besieged the VC office with their four-point demand including expulsion of BCL men for harassing some female students a few days ago.
Progotoshil Chhatra Jote, the alliance of leftist student organizations, has made four demands in their protests. They demanded that the authorities open an inquiry and arrest the Chhatra League activists who assaulted demonstrators outside the VC’s office on January 23, withdraw vandalism charges brought against the demonstrators, arrange medical care for those who suffered injuries and arrange the DUCSU polls without further delay.
