Dhaka, 8 Jan, Abnews: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial period drama Padmavati may have got a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification, but its release date is still unknown. Speculation is rife that the film might hit the screens on January 25 and cash in on the Republic Day holiday. However, the makers of Padman, the other film releasing on that day are unperturbed by the possible box office clash.
Prernaa Arora, one of the producers of Padman, told PTI that they will release the film on schedule. "I am clueless what is happening... with clash. I have no idea about it. Even we have heard about it. All we know is Padman is releasing on January 25. Akshay (Kumar, lead actor of Padman) announced it officially," she said.
She added that Padmavati was a "beautiful film" which should come out soon, but maintained that the release of the Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh-starrer would not affect the date of their film.
Padman, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles, is the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham and his journey of finding a way to make cheap sanitary napkins for women who cannot afford it. – India Today
