Dhaka, 7 Dec, Abnews: The High Court has upheld the trial court’s death sentences for two people and life in prison for six others in the sensational Kamrul Islam Momin murder case.
The High Court bench of Justice Bhabani Prasad Singha and Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam passed the verdict on Thursday noon.
The convicts are Shakhawat Hossain Jewel and Tareq alias Zia and Rafiqul.
However, the HC abated Rafiqul from the sentence as he has already died in prison back in 2015. The two other accused remain absconded.
In 2011, the trial court awarded the death penalty to three people and sentenced to life six others.
Momin, 22, a student of Dhaka Commerce College was shot dead near his Ibrahimpur residence in the capital city on September 13, 2005.
