Dhaka, 26 July, Abnews: Inaugural ceremony of a-two day training programme on ‘System Administration on Linux Platform’ was held at UGC Auditorium today (26 July 2017). Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) in association with UGC has organized the professional training programme for the network engineers of public and private universities of the country and UGC officials. Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) graced the inaugural session of the training programme as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, presided over it. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director of HEQEP was the Special Guest. Mr. A. K. M. Habibur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, BdREN delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, Professor Mannan said that enhancement of quality of higher education is multidimensional aspect. Only teaching in the classroom would not ensure quality of education. For this, implementation of a holistic approach is highly needed. University Grants Commission of Bangladesh is working relentlessly for this.
He further said that we have to work for the betterment of operating system and he stressed the need for finding way out for working with efficiency. He urged everyone to increase their productivity and to work efficiently at workplaces. Professor Mannan also emphasized on proper utilization of the limited resources of the country.
In his presidential speech, Professor Akhtar Hossain said that the training will enhance software use capacity of the participants. They will get basic technique on installation, configuration and operation of the open source operating system (Web server, Email server and DNS server) from the training programme.
Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC, divisional heads, high-officials from UGC and BdREN, among others, were present on the occasion.
