Chapainawabganj, 24 May, Abnews: Law enforcers cordoned off three suspected militant hideouts at Chanpur area of Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj since early hours of Wednesday.
The Chapainawabganj Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) camp Commanding Officer (CO) Enamul Karim told NTV Online a team of RAB cordoned off three houses at about 4:00am.
The law enforcers cordoned off three houses—one at Chanpara village while two others at the villages of Chakpustam and Balugram Shimultala.
They arrested one Abdul Mazid from Chanpara village but didn’t find anything searching the house of Mazid, said the CO.
Later, RAB members conducted another drive at Alichhahos village in Nachol upazila around 9:00am, RAB officials said, adding that they also didn’t find anything from the raided house.
However, the RAB official said three people were also held during a separate raid early on Wednesday.
The elite force cordoned off the houses based on the information from three detainees, said Lt Col Mahbub Alam, commanding officer of RAB 5 of Chapainawabganj.
RAB men arrested the trio along with three kilograms of gunpowder, one pistol, one magazine and four bullets from Bazarpara village in the upazila, Mahbub added.
Earlier, on 27 April, at least four people were killed in suicide blasts at a militant hideout during an anti-militant operation, Eagle Hunt, by the law enforcers in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
