Dhaka, 22 May, Abnews: A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to eight people including seven doctors on their surrender for a case filed in connection with death of a Dhaka University student at Central Hospital due to wrong treatment.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Khurshid Alam granted the bail after the accused had surrendered to the court in the morning, UNB reports.
Hospital director MA Kashem was also freed on bail on Friday in this regard.
Earlier on Thursday (May 19), Afia Akter (20), a first year student of Zoology Department of Dhaka University allegedly died at Central Hospital due to wrong treatment.
Afia was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after doctors diagnosed her with “acute myeloblastic leukaemia”.
However, just before the death around 8:15pm, the doctors told the fellow friends of the patient that she was suffering from “dengue fever”.
Her death sparked protests within the university campus which demanded punishment of the doctors responsible for the “wrong treatment”.
